Container engineering

Due to their excellent resistance to a large number of media, the applications of plastic tanks, vessels and piping are virtually unlimited.

The components can be either shop- or field-assembled. This greatly expands their applications in particular in cases where fabrication meets with its practical limits due to the component size and hence, transportability.

Typical application examples are:

-          process engineering industry

-          plant engineering and construction

-          chemical industry

-          pharmaceutical industry

-          wood industry

-          mechanical engineering

-          power plants

-          food processing industry

-          electro-plating plants

-          surface treatment

-          environmental engineering

-          storage, filling, loading/unloading facilities (LAU facilities) for water-polluting substances regulated by the German Water Resources Act.

-          production, treatment and consumption facilities (HBV facilities) for water-polluting substances regulated by the German Water Resources Act.

-          separator systems

-          air and gas scrubbers

-          biological process plants

-          waste water treatment plants

-          waste water collection systems

-          waste water conveyance

-          water supply

-          water treatment

-          drinking water storage and distribution

-          gas supply

-          district heating lines

Handling, storage, transport and conveyance of media posing a health or water pollution hazard presupposes sound engineering knowledge. This applies in particular to the selection and processing of the plastics for the specific task. The most common materials used in such applications are PP (polypropylene), PE (polyethylene), PVC (polyvinylchloride) and PVDF (polyvinylidenefluoride).

Their main advantages are their light weight, excellent chemical stability and corrosion resistance as well as their ease of processing and repair.

For this reason, the above plastics increasingly offer a viable alternative to metallic materials in many applications.

The lining of structures is becoming an ever more important application of industrial plastics, especially weldable thermoplastics. Here, the structural stability is provided by concrete, metal or similar structures while the plastic liner ensures media resistance.

Normally, plastic panels which are joined with the aid of welding equipment are used in these applications.

Typical examples are:

-          corrosion protection of buildings, structures and building elements such as ceilings, foundations and floors

-          water tank liners

-          waste water tank liners

-          tunnel and road sealing systems

-          sewer liners

-          catch basins for critical fluids

-          retention basins for water, waste water, firefighting water and sewage sludge

-          drinking water tank liners

Mention should also be made of special applications such as prototype construction, vehicle superstructures, laboratory equipment, construction elements and repairs.

Reflecting the latest state of the art, Munsch welding extruders ensure the proper joining of the plastic materials and help assure conformance with the legislative requirements (e.g. WHG § 19), the requirements of the DVS guidelines and the applicable codes and standards.

Ease of handling and high welding rates make Munsch plastic welding machines a powerful tool in tank and piping fabrication.

The machines can weld the following materials:

PE, PE-HMW, PP, PE-EL, PP-EL, PVDF, PVC-C, PFA, PU, ETFE, ECTFE

In the container engineering sector, Munsch hand extruders are used for welding tanks, piping, scrubbers, HVAC ducting and plastic construction elements with wall thicknesses from 4 to 50 mm. Further uses are repair and deposit welding.

Brush-type drives with auto-air supply

Brushless drives with auto-air supply

Brush-type drives with external air supply

Brushless drives with external air supply

Autoair hand extruders with integrated preheat air supply are used in workshop and field welding applications. Thanks to the on-board hot air blower, the machine does not depend on an external air source.

Hand extruders with external air supply are preferably used in workshop welding applications. They are smaller and also lighter than their autoair counterparts.
